A handful of bespoke, single-subject properties (firth, austen, tvawardshows, fableguide, austinmayor) are genuinely competitive; a long tail of thin, template-similar microsites is what Google's helpful-content era specifically punishes and what dilutes the whole network's authority.

The core recommendation: stop treating all 194 sites as equal. Pick the ~15 that have real traffic, a real subject, or a real lead-gen job, and invest in depth there. For the tail, make a deliberate call per site — deepen, consolidate, redirect, or sunset — rather than maintaining hollow shells that drag the average down.
